WHO DO YOU WORK WITH?
I currently work with children ages 7 and older, adolescents, adults, and couples. All treatment is provided by telepsychology.
Â
IN WHAT STATES DO YOU PRACTICE?
I am licensed in New York and New Jersey and provide telepsychology to clients located in either state. You must be physically located in New York or New Jersey during your appointment.
Â
DO YOU OFFER INDIVIDUAL, COUPLES, OR FAMILY THERAPY?
I offer individual therapy and couples therapy. I do not currently provide family therapy. When I work with a child, parent or caregiver involvement is part of the process as clinically appropriate.
Â
CAN MY CHILD SIGN ON FOR THERAPY WITHOUT ME?
No. I begin by checking in with a parent or caregiver before meeting with your child. This gives us time to discuss your concerns, relevant background, and the plan for treatment. We can then discuss how parent involvement will continue as therapy progresses.
Â
CAN I LEAVE MY CHILD HOME ALONE WHILE THEY HAVE A TELEPSYCHOLOGY SESSION?
No. A parent or responsible caregiver must remain at home and available throughout your child's telepsychology appointment. A child cannot be left home alone for a session.
WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO THERAPY?
My approach is compassionate and evidence-based. We may explore longstanding patterns, relationships, identity, family roles, and emotional pain, while also working toward greater clarity and meaningful change. I listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and offer honest feedback when it can support your growth.
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
I currently accept Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Carelon, and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. Coverage depends on your specific plan and benefits, so please confirm your out-of-pocket cost before scheduling.
WHAT ARE YOUR SELF-PAY FEES?
Individual therapy: $250 per 60-minute session. Couples therapy: $300 per 60-minute session.
DO YOU OFFER A FREE CONSULTATION?
Yes. I offer a free consultation to discuss what you are looking for and whether working together may be a good fit. To request one, use the contact form on this website.
WHAT IS PSYCHOLOGY?
Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Clinical psychologists apply their training to understand and treat emotional, behavioral, and psychological concerns.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PSYCHOLOGIST AND A PSYCHIATRIST?
A psychologist has specialized training in psychological assessment, diagnosis, and psychological treatment. A psychiatrist is a physician who specializes in mental health and can evaluate whether medication or other medical treatment may be helpful. Some psychiatrists also provide psychotherapy. I provide psychological treatment and do not prescribe medication. For more information, see the American Psychological Association overview of psychotherapy professionals.
HOW IS A PSYCHOLOGIST DIFFERENT FROM OTHER MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS?
Social workers, professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners have distinct education, training, and licensing pathways. Professionals in these fields may also provide mental health care. For information about each profession, see the National Association of Social Workers, the American Counseling Association, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.
DO YOU PROVIDE MEDICATION MANAGEMENT?
No. I do not prescribe or manage medication. If medication is part of your care, I can coordinate with your psychiatrist, primary care clinician, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, or other prescriber with your permission.
DO YOU OFFER PSYCHOLOGICAL OR NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING?
I have training and experience in psychological assessment, but my current practice focuses on psychological treatment. I do not currently offer comprehensive psychological or neuropsychological evaluations. If testing is what you need, I can discuss referral options.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE FIRST APPOINTMENT?
We will discuss what brings you to treatment, relevant history, previous treatment, strengths, and goals. We will also consider whether my services fit your needs and begin developing a treatment plan together.
HOW OFTEN WILL WE MEET?
I generally recommend meeting weekly at the beginning of treatment. As your needs and goals change, we can discuss meeting less often or adjusting the schedule.
HOW LONG DOES TREATMENT LAST?
There is no set timeline. It depends on your concerns, goals, circumstances, and response to treatment. We will review progress and discuss together whether to continue, adjust the plan, reduce the frequency of appointments, or conclude treatment. Most of my clients attend sessions for 6 to 18 months.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM TELEPSYCHOLOGY?
Appointments take place by video. Please join from a private space where you can speak freely, using a reliable internet connection. You must be physically located in New York or New Jersey during the appointment. I currently provide telepsychology and do not currently offer in-person appointments.
CAN I ATTEND A TELEPSYCHOLOGY SESSION WHILE DRIVING?
No. You must be parked in a safe location before joining your appointment and remain parked throughout the session.
CAN I MULTITASK DURING TELEPSYCHOLOGY?
It depends on the task. Please give the appointment your full attention and try to avoid other activities during the session.
CAN I ATTEND MY SESSION WHILE SHOPPING?
No. You must be in a private, stationary setting where you can participate fully in the appointment.
IS WHAT I SHARE CONFIDENTIAL?
Confidentiality is central to psychological treatment. There are limited legal and ethical exceptions, including certain serious safety concerns or situations in which disclosure is required by law. I will review confidentiality and its limits with you before treatment begins.
Â
IS TELEPSYCHOLOGY FOR EMERGENCIES OR CRISIS SUPPORT?
No. Telepsychology appointments are scheduled treatment and are not an emergency response service. If you need immediate help, contact local emergency services or go to the nearest emergency department.
Â
HOW DO I KNOW IF WE ARE A GOOD FIT?
The free consultation is a chance to discuss what you are looking for and ask questions. If your needs fall outside my current services or areas of competence, I will discuss that with you and, when possible, help identify a more appropriate referral.
Â
CAN YOU PROVIDE COUPLES TREATMENT WHEN THERE IS CURRENT ABUSE OR FEAR IN THE RELATIONSHIP?
When there is current intimate partner violence, coercive control, stalking, sexual coercion, intimidation, credible threats, or physical violence, conjoint couples treatment may not be safe or appropriate. I assess safety and fit before beginning and may recommend individual support or a specialized referral.
Â
WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS FOR RESPECTFUL COMMUNICATION?
I work to provide a respectful, safe treatment environment. Threats, intimidation, harassment, stalking, discriminatory abuse, sexual misconduct, property damage, or violence directed toward me or the practice will result in ending services and providing referrals when appropriate.
